Tag Bolt (タッグボルト, sm9) released December 7, 2018 in Japan as the ninth main Sun & Moon expansion. Its English counterpart, Team Up, released February 1, 2019 and is also designated sm9 — the two sets share artwork direction but differ in card count (Japanese 95 main / 118 master, English 181 main / 196 master).
The set is historically significant as the launch product for the Tag Team GX mechanic, which paired two type-sharing Pokemon onto a single basic-stage card with elevated HP and three-prize knockout cost. Tag Team GX defined competitive play through 2019 and shaped the entire late Sun & Moon era's design language (Bulbapedia accessed 2026-05-09).
